Banks play a critical role in the economic development of their communities. To learn about the history of a bank, therefore, provides a unique way to understand the history of the communities they serve. The PNC Legacy Project is telling the stories of these banks through displays showcasing distinctive artifacts, graphic images, and videotaped oral histories.
The museum-quality displays are installed at select PNC Bank branches. Each display has been carefully designed to complement the architecture and interior space of its respective building. Visitors are offered the opportunity to experience an array of historic information that provides insight into bank operations of the past and reveals the intrinsic relationship between the banks and the local community.
"I have been an exhibit designer for almost three decades, and my clients are usually museums. It has been satisfying to work with a commercial enterprise like PNC on a project of this scale. PNC has a real interest in the history of these banks, and they recognize the value of sharing these displays with the community."
